Terms of Use

1. The service

Mappily is an app for saving places, planning trips, tracking expenses, and splitting costs. Your library data is stored on your phone. Features described in the App Store listing and in-app help may change over time as we ship updates.

2. Eligibility and device requirements

You must be able to enter a binding agreement and comply with Apple’s App Store terms for your region. The primary experience today is on iOS; other platforms may exist but may not offer feature parity.

3. License

Subject to these Terms, Mappily grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Mappily on devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store usage rules.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the app except as allowed by law or with our prior written permission.

4. Free and Pro features

The Free tier includes limited usage caps, including (as currently offered) up to 20 saved places, 1 trip, 3 custom categories (defaults do not count), and 1 photo per place. Existing data remains visible and editable when you reach a limit; limits block creating more.

Mappily Pro is a one-time unlock currently offered at $4.99 that removes or expands gated capabilities such as reminders, share/duplicate trip, expense CSV export, trip currency override, and additional trips, categories, and photos. Pro gates are shown with a Pro badge rather than silently hidden.

Prices, availability, and restore behavior are controlled by the App Store. Purchases are final subject to Apple’s refund policies.

5. Your content and local data

You retain ownership of the places, notes, photos, trip details, and other content you enter. Because data is stored on your phone, you are responsible for exporting backups you need and for securing your device.

Deleting the app may permanently remove local library data that has not been exported. Mappily is not responsible for loss of on-phone data caused by device failure, OS updates, uninstalls, or user action.

6. Sharing and imports

When you share a trip, recipients who import the code receive a new copy; imports do not overwrite an existing trip. Do not share trip codes containing information you are not comfortable disclosing. Photos and reminder settings are not included in shared trip packages.

Importing Google Maps export files or other exports is at your own risk. You are responsible for having the rights to import and use that data.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes
• Attempt to interfere with purchase validation, entitlements, or security mechanisms
• Misrepresent affiliation with Mappily or redistribute the app outside authorized stores

8. Third-party services

The app may rely on Apple services (App Store, Maps/location, notifications, share sheet) and, when configured, purchase providers. Their terms and privacy policies apply to those services. Mappily is not responsible for outages or changes by third-party platforms.

9. Disclaimers

Mappily is provided “as is” and “as available.” Travel planning, maps, distances, budgets, and splits are tools to assist you — they are not professional advice. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mappily and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid for Mappily Pro in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $10 if you have not paid.

11. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms or the app features at any time. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or stop offering the app. You may stop using Mappily at any time by uninstalling it.
